Taijiquan & Qigong Ongoing Class Schedule – last updated 3/20/2020

Due to COVID-19 emergency, the normal class schedule outlined below is on hold. We will be transitioning to a schedule that allows for personal distancing and takes into account that many spaces are closed to gatherings.

In the interim, we will be scheduling classes outdoors, weather permitting, and be implementing online classes, videos and limited groupings in our Barn-Studio. Given the rapidly changing landscape, specifics about our schedule will be sent to members via e-mail. As these changes stabilize, we will provide access for new students interested in joining our community.

Class Locations

  • Bowdoin College: Note: All Bowdoin College classes will be held in Buck Center #301 (3rd floor, end of the hall). Some spring/summer/fall classes may be outside on the main quad, in front of the chapel, if the weather is just right; look for a note at the elevator, or go outside if Buck #301 is empty.
  • First Parish Church, Brunswick: Classes held on the 2nd floor of the FPC Pilgrim House, corner of Cleveland Street and Park Row.
  • South Freeport: Classes in South Freeport are usually held at our barn-studio in South Freeport; please contact us for directions. The Chen Style classes will meet at South Freeport Church Community Hall on South Freeport Road, across from the post office. Last-Minute Changes: there can always be changes concerning our class location. To learn about last-minute changes regarding classes and special events, check this website. We rarely cancel classes.

  • Classes at First Parish Church and in South Freeport require pre-registration. Some classes are level-specific, and some are all levels, where new students learn from instruction and from the more experienced students.

Cost:    $70/month for one class/week; $85/ month for 2 classes/week;    $100/month for unlimited class attendance. Private lessons are available- $100/hour. Off-site teaching based on $150/hour plus travel. Classes held at Bowdoin College are free or significantly discounted (during the summer) for students, faculty and staff.

About the cost of classes: We have a “membership model”: students pay a monthly membership fee that can be terminated, with notice, at the end of the month. The first month is prorated, reflecting the number of weeks left before the next month begins. The fees support the school, but should never prevent participation. Anyone who sincerely wants to learn is welcome to join us- the monthly fee can be adjusted to make the classes affordable for all. Bowdoin students, faculty and staff are not required to be MCT members to take classes held at the college. MCT Students registered for any class are welcome to attend make-up classes; see the schedule above. The class and special events schedule will be expanding as the year continues. If you are not currently a MCT student, contact us about class availability: 207-712-6264 or e-mail
